The word "instalment" usually refers to a series of payments that are made over time, to pay for something. For example, if you want to buy a computer or a car, you might be able to make payments over a few months (or even years) instead of paying for it all at once. Each of those payments is called an instalment. The word can also be used to talk about a series of episodes of a show or a book, which are released separately over time. For example, a TV show might release one episode each week, and each of those episodes is called an instalment. So, if someone talks about making or receiving instalments, or about reading or watching a series in instalments, they are talking about it being divided into smaller parts, usually over time.
