When you 'expel' something or someone, it means to force them to leave a place or situation. For example, a student who behaves badly in school may be 'expelled' and forced to leave the school permanently. Similarly, a country may 'expel' a foreign diplomat who has done something wrong and force them to leave the country. So, when there is a need to remove something or someone by force from a place or situation, we can use the word 'expel'.
