The word 'diastolic' is often used when talking about blood pressure, which is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. When you get your blood pressure checked, you'll hear two numbers: the first is the "systolic" blood pressure, which is the pressure when your heart is contracting and pumping blood, and the second number is the "diastolic" blood pressure, which is the pressure when your heart is relaxed and filling with blood. So, diastolic is a term used to describes a specific type of blood pressure.
