A moraine is a geological feature that is created when a glacier moves across the land. As a glacier moves, it picks up rocks, dirt, and other debris, which then get dropped off as the glacier recedes or melts. This causes a build-up of this material, which is called a moraine. Moraines can be found in areas that have experienced glaciation, such as high elevations and colder regions of the world. People may use the word "moraine" when talking about a hike or a tour of a natural feature.
