The word "bolus" is mostly used in medical context, specifically when talking about a dose of medication or a large mass of food that is chewed and ready to be swallowed. For example, a doctor may tell a patient to take a bolus of medicine, meaning they should take the medication all at once. In the same way, when we chew food, it's formed into a ball, known as bolus, which can be swallowed easily.
