The word 'disaffected' is used to describe people who have lost their faith, loyalty or motivation towards something that they once believed in or were attached to. A disaffected citizen may lose interest in politics or a disaffected student may lose motivation for their studies. It is a negative word that expresses the feeling of dissatisfaction, disappointment or even resentment towards something or someone.
