A cobweb is a very thin, sticky, and usually messy web that spiders make in the corners of rooms or in other places where they live. Cobwebs can accumulate if a place is not cleaned for a long time. In English, we often use cobweb as a metaphor for something that is old and dusty or has not been used in a long time. For example, you might say "I need to clean out my closet, it's full of cobwebs." Or "My knowledge of math is covered in cobwebs because I haven't used it in years."
