A couplet is a pair of lines in a poem that usually rhyme and have the same rhythm. It is commonly used in poetry to create balance, emphasize a point or thought, or to add beauty to the language. You can recognize a couplet in a poem as two lines that are written together and end in a rhyme. For example, "I wandered lonely as a cloud, That floats on high o'er vales and hills." These two lines are a couplet from the poem 'Daffodils' by William Wordsworth.
