Presbyopia is a term used to describe the normal change in vision that happens as people get older. It means that the eyes lose their ability to focus on close objects, making it harder to read, sew, thread a needle, or do other tasks that require close vision. The condition usually starts to show up in people around age 40 or 50, and it continues to get worse over time. People with presbyopia may need to wear reading glasses or bifocals to see clearly.
