The word 'repossess' means to take back something that was bought or owned, usually because the person who owns it hasn't paid for it or isn't using it correctly. For example, if someone buys a car on credit and fails to make their payments, the bank can repossess the car to get their money back. Similarly, if a landlord rents out an apartment to someone who damages the property, the landlord can repossess it to make repairs or rent it out to someone else.
