The word ‘humph’ is used to show that you're unhappy, frustrated or annoyed about something. It’s a short sound people make with their mouth, like a grunt. For example: "I asked my friend if she wanted to go out with me, but she said no. Humph!," or "I have been waiting for the bus for half an hour, and it still hasn't come. Humph, this is frustrating." It's an informal word and you'll usually hear it in spoken English.
