Parochialism is a word used to describe a narrow-minded or closed-off way of thinking. It is often used to talk about people or groups who are only concerned with their own local community, and who do not consider the perspectives or experiences of those outside of it. For example, if someone were to say that a certain political party was guilty of parochialism, they would be suggesting that the party only cares about the concerns of a small group of people, and is not interested in hearing about other viewpoints or opinions. The word can also be used to describe places that are isolated or insular, or that have limited exposure to the world beyond their borders.
