Circumlocution means using a lot of words to talk about something when you could just say it simply. It’s like talking around the subject instead of directly addressing it. People use circumlocution to sound more intelligent or avoid saying something directly. For example, instead of saying “I’m sorry, I can’t come to your party” someone might say “Regrettably, I am otherwise committed on that date”. It is important to use clear and simple language when communicating with others instead of using circumlocution.
