The expression "allude to" is used to talk about mentioning or referring to something indirectly. For example, if you want to talk about a difficult problem without directly saying what it is, you might say "I don't want to go into detail, but I'll allude to the issue." It can also be used when someone mentions something without saying it directly, but the listener still understands what they're referring to. For example, if someone says "I think he's been spending too much time with his friend," without naming the friend, they're alluding to the friend without directly mentioning them.
