The expression "burn itself out" refers to the process of something (usually a fire or a disease) using up all its fuel or energy until it eventually dies down or goes away on its own. For example, if a wildfire starts in a forest, it will continue to burn and spread until it runs out of trees and other things to burn, eventually extinguishing itself. In terms of a disease, if it spreads quickly and reaches many people, it may eventually "burn itself out" as people recover and build immunity, and the disease no longer has as many hosts to infect. This expression can be used to describe a situation where a particular problem or issue is left to naturally resolve itself without external intervention or assistance.
