When two people have been close to each other, such as friends or romantic partners, but over time they become less close or lose touch, we say that they have "grown apart". It means that they have changed or developed in different ways, causing distance between them. This expression can be used in both personal and professional relationships. For example, if two colleagues used to work together closely, but they now work on different projects and don't communicate as much, they could be said to have "grown apart".
