Cách sử dụng
The expression "hold the fort" means to maintain or take care of a situation or place until someone returns or takes over. It originated from military language when soldiers would leave a fort to go into battle and assign a few soldiers to hold it down and protect it until they were back. Nowadays, people use this expression to ask someone to keep things running smoothly until they come back or someone else takes over. For example, if your boss asks you to "hold the fort" while they go to a meeting, they are hoping you will keep things organized and under control until they return.
