When we use the expression "wash your hands of somebody/something", it means to disassociate yourself from a person or situation that is causing problems or trouble. It's like saying that you are no longer responsible for their actions or outcomes. For example, if you have been trying to help a friend who refuses to change their bad habits, you may decide to "wash your hands of them" and stop trying to help. Or, if you have been involved in a project that keeps failing despite your efforts, you may decide to "wash your hands of it" and move on. It's a way of saying that you have done all you can and it's time to let go.
