The expression "a bite at/of the cherry" means to have a second chance to do something or to try something again. It comes from the idea of being able to take another bite at a cherry after already having had one. It can be used in situations where someone missed an opportunity or didn't succeed at something on their first attempt, but they now have another chance to try again. For example, "I didn't get the job the first time, but now there's another opening and I'm going to have another bite at the cherry."
