The expression "at the buzzer" is often used in sports when a player or team scores or wins a game just before the game clock ends and the buzzer sounds. It can also be used in non-sports situations to mean someone completes a task or achieves a goal just before a deadline or time limit expires. For example, if someone finished an exam just as the time ran out, they could say they finished "at the buzzer."
