The expression "be seeing/hearing things" means to think that you see or hear something that isn't really there. It is often used when someone thinks they saw or heard something strange or unusual, but it turns out it was just their imagination. For example, if you're home alone and you think you hear a strange noise, but there's no one else around, you might say "I must be hearing things." It's a way to acknowledge that what you're experiencing might not be real.
