The phrase "for the rest" is used when you want to talk about everything else that hasn't been mentioned yet. For example, if you were talking about a vacation and you said "we went to the beach, and for the rest, we just relaxed," you are saying that you did other things during your vacation, but you didn't do anything noteworthy or special. It's a way of summarizing all of the things that happened after you've already talked about some of them.
