The expression "in common" is used to describe what two or more things or people share or have in the same way. For example, if two friends both like hiking, you can say that they have hiking "in common." It can also be used to describe a shared trait or characteristic of a group of people, for example, "all the students in this class have English language learning in common." It can also be used to describe the shared ownership or use of something, like a community swimming pool that is "in common" for all the residents of a neighborhood.
