The word 'indicator' is often used to show or tell us something about a situation or condition. For example, a thermometer is an indicator of temperature, a speedometer is an indicator of speed, and a traffic light is an indicator of whether to stop or go. We also use the word 'indicator' in business and finance to refer to things that show how well a company or economy is doing, such as stock prices, GDP, and unemployment rates. Essentially, an indicator is something that gives us a clue or signal about something else.
