An eclipse is an event in which one celestial body passes in front of another, temporarily blocking its light. For example, a solar eclipse happens when the moon moves between the earth and the sun, blocking the sun's light for a short time. Eclipse can also be used metaphorically to describe something that is overshadowed or obscured by something else. For instance, a talented musician might be eclipsed by a more popular one, meaning their skills are overshadowed by the other musician's popularity.
