'Meanwhile' is a word that we use to talk about two things happening at the same time. For example, if you're waiting for a friend and they're running late, you might say, "meanwhile, I'll go get us some coffee." This means that while you're waiting, you're also doing something else. Another example might be if you're cooking a meal and you're waiting for the rice to cook, you might say, "meanwhile, I'll start chopping the vegetables." It's a way to talk about how you're using your time when you have to wait for something else to happen.
