The word "several" means more than a few but not many. It can be used when you want to describe a number of things that is more than two or three but less than a lot. You can also use "several" when you want to describe an amount that is not specific, but is still more than a few. For example, "I'll meet you in several hours" means that you will meet the person in a few hours, but not necessarily exactly three or four hours from now.
