"Presumably" is a word that we use to express something that we believe to be true or assume to be true, but we cannot be completely certain. It is often used when we are making an educated guess or inference based on the information we have. For example, if someone says "Sarah is not here, presumably she is running late", it means that they assume Sarah is running late because she is not present, but they do not have direct confirmation that this is the case. It tells the listener that the statement being made is conjecture or assumption rather than an absolute fact.
