The word "continuum" is used to describe a range or progression of things that do not have clear-cut boundaries or categories. It is a way to understand something that is not just divided into black and white, but rather a spectrum of possibilities. For example, the concept of time can be thought of as a continuum, with past, present, and future all blending into each other. Likewise, personality traits can be seen as existing on a continuum--one person might be very outgoing while another is more introverted, but there are many levels in between those two extremes. It's important to note that "continuum" is not a word that is used in everyday conversation all that often, so it may be more commonly encountered in academic or scientific contexts. Nonetheless, it can be a useful term to know in order to express the idea of something that exists on a spectrum rather than being easily divided into categories.
