Solitude refers to a state of being alone or isolated from others. It is not the same thing as being lonely, which is a feeling of sadness or emptiness that can accompany isolation. Solitude can be a choice, where someone chooses to spend time alone to think or relax, or it can be forced, such as when someone is stranded on a deserted island or has to live in quarantine. Some examples of when you might use the word solitude in a sentence are:- "I enjoy the solitude of hiking alone in the mountains."- "After a long day at work, I appreciate the solitude of my quiet apartment."- "The prisoner was sentenced to years of solitude in his cell." It's important to note that solitude can be a positive or negative experience depending on the person and the circumstances. Some people thrive in solitude while others may feel unhappy or anxious without social interaction.
