An iceberg is a very large piece of ice that floats in the ocean. It is only partially visible above the surface of the water, but most of it lies beneath the surface. The word can be used metaphorically to describe a situation where only a small part of something is visible, but there is much more going on beneath the surface. For example, if a company has a problem with its finances, but only the tip of the problem is visible, people might say that it's like an iceberg because there is much more going on beneath the surface that you can't see.
