The word 'squire' was used in the past to describe a young man who worked for a knight. He would help the knight with his armor and weapons and also accompany him into battle. Nowadays, the word can still be used to describe someone who assists or serves someone else, especially in a respectful or courteous way. It can also refer to someone who accompanies or attends to someone of higher status, such as a lord or lady. For example, a young man could be called a squire if he is helping an older person with their bags or if he acts as a personal assistant to a CEO.
