"Magma" is a word that is used in science to describe hot, molten (liquid) rock that can be found deep inside the Earth's crust. It is often associated with volcanic eruptions and can also form igneous rocks when it cools and solidifies. When we talk about magma, we are referring to the material that is under the Earth's surface, whereas the same material that comes out of a volcano is called "lava". So, if you hear someone talking about magma, it means they are talking about the melted rock beneath the Earth's surface.
